Its path brings together concert activities, musicological research, writing and teaching, focusing on the relationship between knowledge of tradition and new forms of cultural communication.

A vision of music that combines interpretative rigour, research and international openness.

A formation among the great European musical traditions

Training Marialuisa Veneziano develops through the study of piano, organ, chamber music and musicology, in a path that combines the Italian academic preparation to confront different European interpretative traditions. Diploma in Piano at the Conservatory "Santa Cecilia" in Rome, under the guidance of M° Aldo Tramma, he also obtained the Diploma in Chamber Music at the same Conservatory with M° Marco Lenzi. He subsequently deepened his own piano path with Enrico Belli and Radu Lupu, paying particular attention to the research of timbre, to the construction of phrasing and to the interpretation of classical and romantic repertoire. At the same time, he achieved Diploma in Main Organ and Organ Composition at the Pontifical Institute for Sacred Music in Rome, studying with M° Theo Flury and obtaining maximum votes and praise. Organizational training has further developed through two important European experiences:

  • Paris, with Jean Guillou, deepening the French symphonic repertoire and the expressive possibilities of the modern organ.
  • Munich, with Ludger Lohmann, consolidating the study of romantic, modern and contemporary repertoire.

To complete this itinerary is the Bachelor of Philosophy at the University Roma Tre, with specialization in Musicology and historical-analytical address. This results in a training in which instrumental interpretation, musical analysis, history and aesthetics constantly dialogue, defining an interdisciplinary artistic and cultural perspective.

Concert activities: piano and organ on the international scene

The concert activities of Marialuisa Veneziano develops between Italy and abroad, through the solo and chamber piano repertoire and a significant organ activity.

Its interpretative path crosses different eras, shapes and languages, with particular attention to the piano repertoire of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven and the great European organ tradition.

As an organist, his repertoire extends from Baroque to contemporary music, with insights dedicated to the French symphonic school, to Romanticism and to the production of the twentieth century.

Among the authors addressed are Alexandre Guilmant, Charles-Marie Widor, Louis Vierne, Maurice Duruflé, Olivier Messiaen and Franz Liszt.

His curriculum documents artistic experiences in places of particular historical and musical importance, including:

  • Notre-Dame de Paris and Saint-Sulpice, Paris;
  • St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York;
  • Stephansdom, Vienna.

In the artistic journey reported in the CV there are also musical experiences related to the Vatican and the celebrations related to the pontificates of Benedict XVI and Francis.

Executive activity is based on a concept of interpretation in which stylistic rigor, historical awareness and expressive research contribute to the construction of the musical speech. Piano and organ thus become two complementary dimensions of the same research: the first through the articulation of gesture and phrasing, the second through the relationship between sound, space and architecture.

Musicology, research and publications

Next to the concert activities, Marialuisa Veneziano develops a research path dedicated to the history of music, aesthetics, interpretation and relationship between musical language and philosophical thought.

The historical-analytical and philosophical formation is the foundation of an approach that considers musical works not only as artistic objects, but as expressions of the societies and cultures that produced them. The musicological survey crosses the history of languages, the transformation of forms, the different conceptions of sound and the evolution of listening practices. This perspective also results in a dissemination activity aimed at different publics, through conferences, insights, editorial projects and paths dedicated to musical history.

Among his works is the volume:

At the tip of my feet: how music saved my life — Europe Editions, 2020.

An autobiographical work in which music is explored in its artistic and human dimension, through a reflection on the relationship between personal experience, beauty and rebirth.

Research and writing thus constitute two complementary instruments: on the one hand the analysis of the text and the historical context, on the other the return to the public of the cultural and expressive meaning of the works.

Cultural journalism, production and music dissemination

Pianist, organist and musicologist, Marialuisa Veneziano together with the research a consolidated activity of writing, cultural journalism, radio production and music dissemination.

In the 2024 founded The Armonies of the Apeiron, online publishing project dedicated to music, culture and thought, of which he is the director. The magazine brings together reviews, interviews, music backgrounds, essays and listening paths, promoting a dissemination that relates music, history, literature, philosophy and contemporaneity.

Among his projects are the most recent rubrics: "The history of music and its aesthetics" and "Music before Spotify", the latter started in 2026 and dedicated to the origins and evolution of musical experience through civilizations, eras and languages, transmitted on the official channel Youtube. In 2027 the transmission of the new heading is planned "Home listening – Iliade, Odyssey and the sound of man". A journey between literature, musicology and philosophy, to discover the great omeric poems through music and universal questions that continue to speak at our time.

The artistic and cultural activity is accompanied by a course developed in different educational contexts. It was Master Collaborator at the Conservators of Pesaro and Venice, he taught piano at the Diocesan Institute of Sacred Music in Fano and collaborated as a cembalist with the Academy Marchigiana of Ancient Music. He is currently a teacher of Music, in which he develops paths dedicated to listening, instrumental practice, musical history and interdisciplinaryity.

Interpretation, research, journalism and teaching constitute the different expressions of the same cultural project: make music a living form of knowledge, able to dialogue with the present and to cross the boundaries between disciplines and generations.
